an idea you might find interesting.
i know you have your eyes on all students during the sessions. I also know that you must see students make the same mistake over and over again...some, yes it can take some time, figure out theie mistakes and correct them on the fly, others are struggling for an excruciating long time or never get over it because they just don't know better....
suggestion...well, i don't suggest you try to personally correct every little detail, for that a private lesson is the time and place, however, for long time students, a hint, a suggestion on what to focus...on what needs to be improved, work on....goes a long way....i certainly would appreciate it very much...not only at evaluation time...but in between...preferably without disturbing the class which might be a challange for the instructor...i am aware of that.
Thank you Roger & sorry for the late reply.
Based on my experience most mistakes are due to timing. But, then I try to dance with the ladies & as well the gentlemen. I let them know what to work on based on the way they lead or follow me.
But, I also would like the student to take the initiative to ask about a move so, I can help them. As you mention, is never easy to be able to answer to help every student in a group setting.
I'll will continue to improve on it.
I appreciate the feedback.
With so many instruments playing at the same time in each salsa song, how can we identify the timing of each song?
It's very challenging for me and many other students.
Perhaps, we can take the time to break down one song in each of our classes? I would certainly appreciate it.
Video about it coming before July 31. I might have to break it into parts. Please bare with me. Thank you.
To answer your question, you have to hear the whole music arrangement. Start with a simple song.
Here is one to work with: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fOmxXw2aFbo
That one has a repetitive base line. Also, the 2 x 3 clave is playing along the way.
At the end tell me on what number it finish. I'm here to help.
Thank you for the suggestion as I have done it, this month after evaluation on the weekly basis.
